Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Harry McLeman (8-2) is the newest addition to the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship roster.

McLeman has penned a deal which will see him compete exclusively for CWFC for five bouts over a minimum period of 18 months. A native of Plymouth in the south of England, McLeman will make his debut in the promotion’s 185lbs division in 2015.

“Cage Warriors is by far the best show in Europe,” said McLeman, who turned 28 last week. “I’m looking forward to competing with some of the best fighters in the game and taking that belt.”

Currently riding a three-fight win streak, McLeman most recently clinched the British middleweight title for BAMMA, a leading domestic promotion in the UK.

McLeman is ranked as one of the UK’s top ten middleweights outside the UFC, and has taken six of his eight professional wins inside the distance - four by submission, two via (T)KO.

Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming Harry to Cage Warriors and I’m looking forward to seeing what impact he can make next year on what’s shaping up to be a very exciting middleweight division.”

Khia, Nakita and Harvey competed at the 2014 Hereford Open. Khia won Gold and Harvey won Silver, losing only to the World number 3, Cameron Hibbert.

Another amazing display of MMAA Gracie Jiu Jitsu from the youngsters who are now starting to make the adults nervous!

Chay Ingram defeated Cleverson Moraes Careca at 2m42s of round 2 via rear naked choke.

What many expected would be a BJJ clinic by De Silva started out as just that, the Andy Roberts BJJ stand out stayed so close on his man, Ingram couldn't manoeuvre out. Cleverson looked to be short on ideas once he'd gotten to the dominant position, rarely striking at all and few signs of a submission coming, though he was dominating with trip takedowns and maintained top position.

A real chess match ensued between the two on the ground with De Silva seemingly able to reverse anything Ingram attempted. Ingram eventually scored a takedown of his own and muscled his way into mount, De Silva giving up his back allowed Ingram to take full advantage. A patient and technically dazzling BJJ display from both guys.

Well done to MMAA's Chay Ingram on another great fight so close to regaining his Welterweight belt at Throwdown 6.

TEAM BRITISH FIGHTER athlete Harry ‘Mad Mac’ McLeman defeated Andy De-Vent for the vacant BAMMA British Middleweight belt.

H4TV’s Harry “Mad Mac” McLeman defeated Andy De-Vent at BAMMA 15 to become their British middleweight champion. This victory is McLeman’s third in a row and with a successful defense or two his dream of the UFC could come true.

It was an entertaining title fight. One where both fighters were trying to win it until the fight ended, It utilized all the elements of MMA showcasing two tough well rounded fighters with heart.

In the first round McLeman was getting slightly the better of the early back and forth standup battle. He showed some nice hands landing an early three punch combination that stung De-Vent. He went for a takedown that was defended, but showed how well McLeman blended the grappling and the striking elements together.

Later in the round he hurt De-Vent with a body shot and used that moment to get the takedown.

On the ground the fight stayed exciting. Both fighters scored transitions from the bottom and were aggressive from the top. Looking to do damage with ground and pound of going for submissions. Including a guillotine choke from McLeman where he jumped into guard. It was deep but De-Vent showed heart fighting it off.

Several times in the round McLeman had De-Vent in trouble taking his back and rocking him in the standup. De-Vent not only survived but kept coming back at McLeman.

It was an action filled back and forth round but McLeman consistently came out on top on the ground. In the standup he did excellent work in the clinch and at range to do more damage.

The second round was really three acts.

In the first McLeman took control getting the fight to the ground after some more nice clinch work. He was on top and in control of the round. He again took McLeman’s back and had him in trouble this time pounding away at him. When De-Vent used a moment of space to push McLeman up and off of him and he ended up on top to start the second act.

He had slightly more than half the round to make it his. He had slightly more than half of the round left to take it from McLeman. He did some damage from the top but not nearly enough and just over a minute later McLeman was back in control when De-Vent went for a knee to the body.

This lead to the third act where McLeman stayed on top of De-Vent until he let him up in the final seconds of the round. He was able to land some from the top secure the round.

McLeman was up two rounds going into the third. The first two had been grueling rounds and they looked tired going into the third with McLeman slightly worse. De-Vent did not have enough left to get the finish he needed after dropping the first two rounds.

He did control much of the round as it looked like McLeman had little left and maybe De-Vent could put together a 10-8 round to salvage a draw.

That was until the last minute of the round when McLeman dug inside and fought back from the bottom. He first used elbow strikes from there. Then he used his guard to shutdown De-Vent’s offense and got the fight stood back up with thirty seconds left.

On their feet they exchanged a flurry with each landing a couple of nice shots. McLeman slipped and went down. De-Vent landed a couple of shots and McLeman quickly got up. He stepped forward. De-Vent shot forward for the takedown and McLeman stuffed it as the fight ended.

It was not enough for him to win the round but McLeman showed a champions heart battling to the end of the round when he was exhausted.

It was a close competitive and hard fought exciting fight. McLeman took the UD 29-28 on all three judges scorecards becoming the new champion.

McLeman has a three fight win streak and the BAMMA British middleweight title. With a successful defense or two H4TV could have Mad Mac in the UFC especially with so many cards in Europe this year. Until then look for him to be ready to fight whoever BAMMA puts in front of him.

TEAM BRITISH FIGHTER athlete Harry ‘Mad Mac’ McLeman will face Andy De-Vent for the vacant BAMMA British Middleweight belt.

McLeman TWEETED his desire to fight for the vacant belt and BAMMA listened giving him a shot against resurgent and undefeated at middleweight De-Vent.

McLeman’s last outing was a great contest against a strong opponent in Matt Howard at BAMMA 14 winning via unanimous decision, McLeman moved to a 2 fight win streak.

McLeman who fights out of MacMillan Martial Arts Academy with coach Danny Macmillan who himself is a BJJ black belt under the imperious Royce Gracie holds a current pro record of 6-2. We know he will look to seize this opportunity with both hands, and show why he was right to ask for his title shot.

On April 5th at BAMMA 15 Copper Box in London’s Olympic Park the belt will be decided and if the ex soldier has his say it will go back with him to Plymouth.
